Erasmus Club: Finland

Image
Every other Thursday at Kirkkomännikkö school we have Erasmus club that is open to all pupils from grades 4-6 who are interested in this project and in internationality in general. So far we have created our Erasmus wall next to the gym with flags and small presentations of the three countries. We have also made Kahoot! - quizzes of the three countries, as well as prepared small gifts to take to Irish students and teachers in April.

The logo competition

Twenty randomly selected students from each country got to vote for their favourite logo, excluding the contestant from their own school. This is how the votes were given: Finland 26, Ireland 23 and Greece 11. This means that Risto Mäkelä's logo from Kirkkomännikkö school is the official logo for this project. Congratulations Risto and well done for the other finalists too! Logokilpailu on ratkennut! Kaikilta kouluilta valittiin satunnaisesti 20 oppilasta jotka saivat antaa äänensä lempiehdokkaalleen - poislukien oman maan ehdokas. Voittajaksi selviytyi Risto Mäkelän logo, onnittelut Ristolle ja muillekin hienoille finalisteille!

Hello from Greece! We are very happy to work with all of you. and of course we are very happy being our selves! Students of the 5th grade worked on the project logo. They tried to express what makes them feel happy and what brings them joy.We talked about what makes them feel good and the most of them created draws presenting activities with their friends or presenting our school. The chosen logo is something completely different. One of the girls who drew herself doing gymnastic. She is very happy doing gymnastic and the most of the children voted this logo.

Planning the project logo: Finland

Our Happy to be me! - project started with designing the logo that will appear on the blog and all publications related to our project. We wanted to engage all the pupils to this activity, so all of them designed their proposition - alone or in small groups.  After that they chose a favourite logo from their class and these favourites went through to the final voting that was organized like any official vote. By coincidence, Finland had the presidential election taking place during the same weekend, so we were really up to date at Kirkkomännikkö school! The 5th grade had been studying election and voting processes in civics, so they were a natural choice to work as election officials. 112 votes were given and the winner got 41 of them. So here's the logo contestant from Finland by Risto Mäkelä from class 6B:    Risto's logo will now face competition from the most popular logos from Greece and Ireland. This, too, will be sorted by voting so soon we will find out the official log

The project has started!

This Erasmus+ project called Happy to be me! joins together three primary schools around Europe: Kirkkomännikkö school from Alavus, Finland, the primary school of Zervochoria in Chalkidiki, Greece and Kilglass National School in Ahascragh, Ireland. The project started in January 2024 and will end in May 2025. The aim of the project is to find and emphasize positive things that we can see in ourselves, in our schools and in the areas that we live in. We will also discuss these thoughts with our European friends in hopes of finding similarities (but also differences) between us although we live on different sides of the continent. Welcome to follow us on the project! Erasmus+ -projektimme nimeltään Happy to be me! tuo yhteen kolme alakoulua ympäri Eurooppaa: Kirkkomännikön alakoulun Alavudelta, Zervochorian alakoulun Chalkidikista, Kreikasta, sekä Kilglassin alakoulun Ahascraghista, Irlannista. Projekti alkoi tammikuussa 2024 ja jatkuu kevääseen 2025. Projektin tavoitteena on löytää ja
